out of frame

out of frame is a personal exploration of cultural identity through the medium of photography. Rooted in my experiences living in Austria between 2019 and 2021, the project delves into the complexities of navigating a hybrid identity shaped by years of inhabiting two distinct cultural worlds.
Created during the COVID-19 pandemic, this body of work reflects the evolving balance between my Albanian heritage and my life in Austria. Through a series of photographic studies — including still life, portraiture, and abstract photography — this body of work captures the nuances of living within and between these cultural layers.
Focusing on everyday objects and intimate spaces, the project investigates how personal surroundings become symbols of identity and cultural hybridity. Images are carefully composed to challenge the viewer‘s perception, playing with the boundaries between the visible and invisible, the familiar and the unfamiliar. Visual metaphors serve as a tool to reframe the mundane, uncovering layers of meaning that speak to the continuous negotiation of self in a transnational context.
